Lady Bearcats rout Brevard 100-71 at Eagle Classic

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Freshman Ciara Lyons scored 17 points to lead six Lander players in double figures Sunday in a 100-71 non-conference victory over Brevard College in the Carson-Newman Eagle Classic.

Lander improves to 1-1 overall, while Brevard is 0-2.

Lyons was 8-of-11 from the field and 1-of-1 from the free throw line, while grabbing five rebounds and dishing off three assists in just 20 minutes played. Shannon McKever added 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting and grabbed five rebounds, while Brittni Johnson netted 14, Keondra Barnes 13, Jasmine Judge 11 and Andrea Butler 10. Judge led the Lady Bearcats in rebounding with six, while Johnson had a game-high 10 assists.

Brevard's Samantha Winn scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Tornadoes, while Anna Schlobohm added 13 points and Amanda Whitaker 10.

Lander, which led 51-30 at halftime, connected on 42-of-73 field goals for 57.5 percent, 8-of-21 three pointers for 38.1 percent and 8-of-15 free throws for 53.3 percent. The Lady Bearcats out-rebounded Brevard, 34-31.

Brevard made 25-of-58 floor shots for 43.1 percent, 3-of-12 three pointers for 25 percent and 18-of-24 foul shots for 75 percent.
