Lady Bearcats fall to Armstrong Atlantic, 66-52

SAVANNAH, Ga.----The Lander women's basketball team dropped its second Peach Belt Conference game of the season Saturday afternoon when the Armstrong Atlantic Lady Pirates posted a 66-52 victory at Alumni Arena.

Lander falls to 13-6 overall and 7-2 in the PBC, while AASU improves to 10-6, 4-5.

LaShonda Chiles led the Lady Bearcats with 21 points, while Stephanie Ponds added nine points and eight rebounds. Tiara Good, who is second in the PBC in scoring with 21.4 points per game, was held to eight points. TaSheba Butler also had eight rebounds.

AASU placed four players in double figures led by Lacey Willis' 16 points. Jasmine Herron and Kaneetha Gordon netted 12 each, while Alandris Griffin added 10. Gordon also grabbed a game-high 19 rebounds.

The Lady Pirates, who led 30-21 at halftime, made 26-of-63 field goals for 41.3 percent, and 13-of-23 free throws for 56.5 percent.

Lander struggled from the field as the Lady Bearcats connected on 19-of-66 floor shots for 28.8 percent, including 5-of-26 three-point attempts for 19.2 percent. Lander made 9-of-11 free throws for 81.8 percent.
