GREENWOOD – Lander's Evan Christian pitched his first complete game of the season as the Bearcats completed a three-game Peach Belt Conference sweep over Georgia Southwestern, 3-2, Sunday afternoon at Legion Field. (Box score)

Lander won all three games by 3-2 scores and improved to 19-32 overall, 8-19 in the Peach Belt. The Hurricanes fell to 14-26, 8-16.

The Bearcats also had complete games in all three contests. Christian (4-3) allowed two runs, none earned, on five hits while striking out six and walking one. Lander's Derek Wilson and Daniel Hinchberger tossed complete games Saturday.

Georgia Southwestern's Colin Duffie (2-6) pitched well, allowing three runs, two earned, on nine hits in eight innings. He walked two and struck out two.

The Hurricanes jumped ahead 1-0 in the top of the first when Clayton Trenary reached second base on an error, moved to third on Tommy Rice's bunt, and scored on Carlos Height's sacrifice fly to left.

Rice hit an RBI double in the third to give Georgia Southwestern a 2-0 lead.

Lander tied it in the fourth when Jesse Barbaro hit a leadoff single, stole second and moved to third on the catcher's throwing error, and came home when Danny Morgan reached on an error. Gabe McCann's single up the middle scored Morgan with the tying run.

The Bearcats took a 3-2 lead in the sixth when Morgan walked, moved to second on McCann's line drive single to right, stopped at third on Eric Barrett's base hit to left, and scored on a pop single near the right-field line by Jared Altus.

Leading hitters for Lander were Morgan, 2-for-3, two runs, one RBI, one stolen base; McCann, 2-for-4, one RBI, one stolen base; and Altus, 1-for-3, one RBI.

Height led the Hurricanes, going 2-for-3 with an RBI while Rice was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
