DUE WEST, SC---Nine Erskine pitchers combined for a four-hitter Tuesday afternoon as the Flying Fleet defeated Lander, 4-0, in a non-conference baseball game.
With the win, Erskine improves to 32-20 overall, while Lander falls to 16-32 on the season.
Erskine took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, when Keith Hill scored on a double by Matt Schenider. The Fleet added three more runs in the third, with an RBI single from Shelton Cisson and a double from Greg Huff that drove in two runs. The Fleet used nine pitchers and held the Bearcats to four hits.
The Fleet were led at the plate by Cisson who was 3-3 with a double and RBI, while Keith Hill was 2-4 with two runs scored. William Buzhardt picked up the predetermined win, retiring all three batters he faced in the sixth inning.
Jesse Barbaro, Jared Altus, Eric Barrett, and Hunter Ruoss each had hits for the Bearcats. Evan Chastian took the loss, allowing one earned run in six innings of work.
