GREENWOOD----Jesse Barbaro stroked a two-run home run over the right field fence in the eighth inning Tuesday afternoon to give the Lander Bearcats a 3-2 come-from-behind victory against Erskine College in a non-conference game at Legion Field.
Lander improves to 7-12 overall, while Erskine slides to 14-8.
William Dudley (1-0) earned the win for Lander as he struck out five, walked two and allowed no runs on three hits.
Erskine's Sean Holsonback took the loss after facing just one Lander batter.
Erskine took a 2-0 lead in the third inning. Chris Beugenot reached on a catcher's error, advanced to second on a groundout and to third on Walter Cochrane's single. Shelton Cisson walked to load the bases then Ryan Price hit an RBI single which scored Biguenet. Chas Anthony walked to score Cochrane.
Lander cut the Flying Fleet's lead to 2-1 in the fifth inning as Adam Young singled to left field, advanced to second on R.J. Milford's sacrifice bunt and scored on Malcolm McLeod's single to center field.
For Lander, Barbaro went 2-for-4 with one run scored and two RBI and McLeod went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
For Erskine, Cochrane went 2-for-4.
The win marks the second time this season Lander has defeated Erskine. The Bearcats scored a 9-2 victory on Feb. 6.
