AUGUSTA, Ga.---The Lander baseball team split the last two games of its Peach Belt Conference series at Augusta State on Saturday at Lake Olmstead Stadium, winning the first game, 10-8, and losing the second, 10-2. (Game 1 Box | Game 2 Box)

The Bearcats are 9-14 overall and 3-9 in the PBC, while Augusta State is 16-6, 5-4.

In the first game, Daniel Hinchberger (3-2), recorded the win as he struck out four, walked two and allowed six runs (five earned) on nine hits in 5.2 innings pitched. Augusta State's Dustin Taylor (1-2) took the loss as he struck out two, walked one and allowed four earned runs on five hits in 2.1 innings of work.

For Lander, Gabe McCann (2-for-5, two runs scored, one RBI), T.J. Guinan (3-for-5, three runs, two RBI), Adam Young (3-for-4, one run, two RBI) and R.J. Milford (1-for-3) all doubled.

For Augusta, Tim Rawlings went 2-for-5 with one double, two runs scored and two RBI.

In the second game, ASU's David Whitfield (1-2) posted the win as he struck out six, walked two, and allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits in the complete seven innings. Lander's Justin Altman (4-1) suffered his first loss of the season as he struck out two and allowed six earned runs on eight hits in two innings pitched.

For Lander, Jonathan Myers, McCann, Jesse Barbaro, Malcolm McLeod, Guinan and Young all got hits.

For the Jaguars, Bennett Mayfield (2-for-4, two runs, one RBI), Jorge Virguez (2-for-3, one run, two RBI) and John Partridge (2-for-2, two runs) all doubled.
