GREENWOOD----Kelsey Fleck and Kellie Sorensen had 21 and 16 kills respectively Tuesday night to lead the Carson-Newman women's volleyball team to a 3-1 non-conference victory over Lander in Horne Arena. The Lady Eagles won, 30-22, 27-30, 30-25, 30-18.

Carson-Newman improves to 19-8 overall, while Lander slips to 19-7.

Kay Stewart and Ashley Ferry each had 11 kills for Lander, while Kerri Sorensen and Andrea Griffin added 10 each. Candace LaRocca posted 43 assists. Melissa Trippany had a team-high 24 digs and two service aces, while Kerri Sorensen added 21 digs and Marina Camps 12. LaRocca, Ferry and Griffin had nine digs each.

Carson-Newman also received key play from Salem Stepp (32 digs), Caitlin Schlegel (13 kills), Stephanie Cutter (19 digs), Allyson Corhn (11 digs, 3 service aces), Haley Bush (12 digs, 3 service aces), Katie Troyer (9 kills, 9 digs, 2 service aces), Nikki James (10 kills). Sorensen added 23 digs to go along with her double-digit kills.
