MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.----The Lander men's basketball team placed three players in double figures Wednesday night, but couldn't contain Georgia College & State University in a 73-56 loss at the Centennial Center.
Lander evened its record at 3-3, while Georgia College remained undefeated at 6-0. Even though the two teams are both in the Peach Belt Conference, this game counted as a non-conference contest.
Darius Johnson connected on 2 of 4 field goals and 8 of 9 free throws to lead the Bearcats with 12 points. Zach Evans added 11 points and Jason Davis netted 10. Brenton Harris led the Bearcats in rebounding with five.
GCSU's Aaron Clark led the Bobcats with a game-high 24 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots. Jay Warden added 17 points for GCSU.
GCSU, which led 49-27 at halftime, made 29 of 55 field goals for 52.7 percent, 9 of 19 three pointers for 47.4 percent and 6 of 11 free throws for 54.5 percent.
Lander made 21 of 53 field goals for 39.6 percent and 13 of 18 free throws for 72.2 percent. Lander outrebounded the Bobcats, 31-29.
