GREENWOOD----Armstrong Atlantic State University bounced back from a Game 1 loss to defeat Lander 27-30, 30-24, 30-28, 30-24 in Peach Belt Conference volleyball Friday night at Finis Horne Arena.
The Pirates improved to 12-11 overall and 6-1 in the Peach Belt. Lander fell to 16-9, 1-6.
Adriana Miller led Armstrong with 16 kills and had 23 digs. On game point in Game 3, Miller had a kill to clinch a 30-28 Pirates win. Christina Flores had 30 digs and 10 kills, while Traci Knuth had 12 kills, 19 digs and four blocks. Margaret Thornton had 19 assists, Stacy Yates had 18 assists, and Leah Schmiedge had eight kills and eight blocks. Rachel Falco had seven kills and five blocks.
Kerri Sorensen and Andrea Griffin had 11 kills apiece to pace the Lady Bearcats. Melissa Trippany had 30 digs, Sara Senn had eight kills and 20 digs, and Jennifer (JJ) Edwards added 43 assists and 18 digs. Kay Stewart had eight kills and four blocks while Melissa Hedberg had seven kills and two blocks.
Lander hosts Lincoln Memorial at 3 p.m. and Eckerd at 7 p.m. Saturday at Horne Arena.
