Originally hired as an assistant coach during the 2020-21 season,Chris Freije was named the Associate Head Wrestling Coach prior to the 2023-24 season.

Coach Freije has a plethora of NCAA coaching experience, serving as the Head Coach at both Fairmont State and Kentucky Wesleyan University. Coach Freije also served as an assistant coach at Colorado Mesa University and Western Colorado University. As a competitor, coach Freije was an NCAA All-American and an NCAA National Finalist for Western State.
