Lander University

Shelby Merchant is entering her second season as Lander's assistant women's lacrosse coach. Merchant was hired in October of 2019.

Prior to arriving in Greenwood, Merchant was a member of the Radford women's lacrosse program, serving as captain for the Highlanders' first team in 2016. A defender, Merchant made 35 appearances for Radford, including 25 starts. 

In 2017, Merchant served as an assistant coach for the All-American Lacrosse National Classic. She also worked as a camp counselor at lacrosse camps for Duke, Georgetown, Radford, and at Chantilly High School, where she played four years and earned all-district honors.

A native of Fairfax, Va., Merchant graudated from Radford in May of 2019 with a bachelors' degree in exercise, sport, and health education.
