Lander University

Now in her 19th year at Lander, Kim Schoolfield oversees the Bearcats’ cheer, dance, and mascots — Mr. and Mrs. Bearcat — bringing more than 26 years of coaching experience to the program. A Lander alumna, she earned both a B.S. in Elementary Education and an M.Ed. from the university and is USA Cheer Safety Certified.

Under her direction, Lander’s spirit programs have compiled an impressive record, highlighted by two Go Be Great National Service Awards, two top-three and four additional top-10 finishes at NCA College Nationals, three Clash of the Carolinas championships (plus a runner-up and grand champion title), seven Peach Belt championships, five CANAM Collegiate crowns with four more top-five placements, and three top-five finishes at the DTU College Classic in Las Vegas and Orlando.

A former middle school teacher and coach, Schoolfield still maintains her teaching certification. She resides in Greenwood, S.C., and enjoys reading and rehabilitating baby squirrels in her spare time.
