HOME OF THE LANDER UNIVERSITY BEARCATS #CLAWSUP

One Day. One Purpose. One Lander.

Lander University is participating in Giving Tuesday with a 24-hour fundraising campaign. Gifts made to the University on the annual global day of giving — this year on Nov. 28 — can lead to a better future for our students, campus community and beyond.

Created in 2012, Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It puts a philanthropic spin on the retail rush of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Each year, Giving Tuesday highlights the power of people coming together to make a positive difference in our communities and the world.
We encourage our alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff and friends to consider Lander when participating in Giving Tuesday this year. Together as #OneLander, we can fund scholarships for deserving students, support Bearcat athletic teams, and invest in initiatives that build a better future for our students, South Carolina, and our global community.
Payment options by credit card include One-Time, Monthly, or Round-Ups.

CLICK YOUR FAVORITE TEAM NAME BELOW TO ACCESS THEIR GIVING PAGE AND DONATE ONLINE.

Numerous Bearcat teams are continually ranked in the top 25 in the country, and our teams are highly competitive in the Peach Belt Conference and NCAA Division II. Our student-athletes also score high in the classroom, as many are listed on the Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll. To maintain that competitive edge, we need your help for scholarships, operating budgets, and student-athlete wellness and enhancement programs.

Wrestling
In only 4 seasons Lander Wrestling has established itself as legitimate NCAA National Championship contender, finishing as NCAA National Runner ups in 2023.

Our match schedule is packed with matches from November to March.  Physically this is very demanding on student-athletes.  Recovery and nutrition are essential to our success. We are fundraising to outfit and supply our recovery station within our locker room. This station would provide our athletes with key nutrition and supplements to fuel up before and after practice and games.  This would be open during our season and located in our locker room for the competition season.  In addition, we would outfit the station with a years’ worth of supplements and snacks for the team.

This year’s schedule includes an 4 day trip to the NWCA National duals in Cedar Falls Iowa. This is an added expense as we have to fly to the event. We are fundraising for additional funds to help offset the cost of this trip.

Team Travel NWCA National Duals - $5000

Men’s Basketball
General funds to help any players that have less socioeconomically. Everyone simply isn’t as fortunate as others. An example of this would be covering one’s mandatory housing fee so he can live on campus.
Summer Meals. We have been fortunate enough to bring our guys to campus in the summer where they are able to take classes, lift together in the weight room, play pick up together on the court, and break bread together in the dining hall. The meals are quite expensive, and the more fundraising we do the easier it is to cover their meals.
Any amount of money helps more than you know. We thank you for your time, care and consideration of the young men that sacrifice a lot to represent Lander University and the Men’s Basketball program alike.

Women’s Basketball
The Lander Women’s Basketball team is fundraising to enhance the overall experience that each Women’s Basketball player has in their time at Lander. First, we are looking to make significant improvements to our locker room in order to provide an all-inclusive space that will double as a film room, as well as a place for players to spend time together throughout the day. To make this happen, we are hoping to completely revamp the area with new vinyl flooring, lighting, furniture and fully equipped Smart TV for the complete package! Second, we want to create a “Nutrition Station” in the space so that the student-athletes have access to healthy snacks, protein and meal supplements which will allow them to fuel for and recover from workouts much faster. With your donation, we believe we can create a state-of-the-art locker room that will not only enhance the overall student-athlete experience but will also allow us to recruit the type of players necessary to consistently compete on the National stage!

Bass Fishing
Entering our 3rd year as part of the Lander athletics department, we have far achieved some of our goals. We ended the 2023 spring season ranked 19th in the country. We were preseason ranked 17th in the country and after the first two events of the season we found ourselves sitting atop of the rankings at 1st in the country, a first-time feat for our program. In 6 out of the past 7 years we have been the top ranked school in South Carolina.
In order to maintain a top 10 finish in the Association of Collegiate Anglers rankings, we must be able to send more teams to more tournaments.
Bass Fishing is an extremely expensive sport. We travel all over the country representing Lander competing in college Bassmaster, Major League Fishing, and Association of Collegiate Anglers. We will see our team just this year alone travel to, Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, and Texas. We’ve competed in two tournaments so far this fall and sent teams to Arkansas and Kentucky. All teams that travel must use their own truck and boat. This includes but is not limited to gas (truck and boat), oil (for boats), and any maintenance that may be required.
Thank you so much for your generosity and continued support!
