Dawn Turner Named to NCAA Committee on Access, Opportunity and Impact

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA announced this month that Lander University Deputy Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator Dr. Dawn Turner has been appointed to the newly established NCAA Committee on Access, Opportunity, and Impact.

Dr. Turner is one of the select representatives from NCAA Division II serving on the association-wide committee, which was created through the consolidation of four committees: the Committee on Women's Athletics, the Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee, the Board of Governors Committee to Promote Cultural Diversity and Equity, and the Gender Equity Task Force. The restructuring aims to increase efficiency and maximize the impact of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts within the NCAA.

"It is a tremendous honor to be selected as one of the Division II representatives on this committee, Dr. Turner said. "This is an important opportunity to help shape inclusive and equitable experiences for student-athletes across all divisions."

Dr. Turner brings valuable experience to the new committee, having previously served on the Committee on Women's Athletics for the past two years. In this new role, she will help the NCAA create fairer opportunities for student-athletes—especially those from underrepresented backgrounds—and work to make championship events more inclusive for everyone.

The committee's first meeting will take place Sept. 24-25 in Indianapolis, where members will begin planning ways to improve access, opportunity, and representation throughout college sports.
