ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Competing in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals on the road against No. 3 seed Flagler College, the sixth-seeded Lander women's soccer team fell by a final score of 4-2.
The Bearcats and Saints each had 14 shots for the game, with Flagler having the edge in shots on goal 9-5.
The hosts got on the board first 3:50 into the evening, but
Emma Sexton had the answer to make it 1-all in the 14th minute with fellow senior
Maren White being credited with the helper. It was the fourth goal of Sexton's final campaign.
Things settled down over the next 20 or so minutes before the Saints regained their advantage late in the 33rd minute and pushed it to 3-1 just prior to halftime.
Flagler's stifling defense prevented the Bearcats from having many scoring chances and they took a 4-1 lead in the 64th minute.
White capped the scoring 10 minutes later with a free-kick goal – her third of the season – to cut Lander's deficit to 4-2.
Reagan Hardy had the final Bearcat shot on net and was stopped with less than 12 minutes to go.
