DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Lander and top-seed North Georgia battled to a 2-2 draw in the Peach Belt semifinals, with the Nighthawks advancing after winning the shootout 4-3.
The Bearcats took the early lead on North Georgia when Claire Regnault found Maren White in the ninth minute. White would score her second goal of the match in the 30th minute, giving Lander a 2-0 lead over the 22nd-ranked team in the country.
Lander held the two-goal lead until the Nighthawks got on the board with a goal in the 77th minute. The Bearcats tried to hold on for the upset, but North Georgia scored in the 88th minute to tie the match and send it to extra time. Both teams had chances to score in the extra time, but neither could find the back of the net, sending the Bearcats to their second-straight shootout. The Bearcats made their first three shots, but North Goeriga would keep them off the board for the final two to advance.
