CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Lander men's rugby team fell to Belmont Abbey Saturday morning 44-12.
Lander was originally supposed to host the Crusaders, but with the amount of rain in Greenwood the past couple of days, the match was moved to Charlotte.
Belmont Abbey was the first to score and didn't stop until they were up 31-0.
Lander was finally able to get on the board with a try from Ethan Richardson to make it a 31-5 game. The Bearcats followed that up with a try from Eric Burkett and a successful conversion to make it 31-12.
Belmont Abbey would finish the game with 13 unanswered points to close the match out.
