YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - For the second straight game and the sixth time this season, Lander shut out their opponent as the Bearcats defeated Young Harris 1-0 Wednesday afternoon.
Despite outshooting the Mountain Lions 6-1 in the first 23 minutes, the score was tied at zero. In the 24th minute, Emma Sexton took a corner kick by Katie Arthur and drove the ball past the Young Harris keeper to break the scoreless tie. This goal was all the scoring the Bearcats would need, as the Lander defense held the Mountain Lions to just three more shots on goal over the next 66:25, to make it 208:24 minutes since the Bearcats last allowed a goal. Senior Sarah Owen had two saves in goal as she recorded her fourth solo shutout of the season.
