Lincoln Memorial women’s soccer defeats Lander, 3-1

GREENWOOD – Danielle dos Santos scored a hat trick in the second half, lifting Lincoln Memorial to a 3-1 non-conference women's soccer victory over Lander Saturday night.

Lincoln Memorial improved to 5-4 while the Lady Bearcats dropped to 2-6.

Christian Wade gave Lander a 1-0 lead 16 minutes into the match when she drilled a 25-yard shot into the back of the net. Seconds earlier, Lander's Chrissie Wallace had a shot that Lincoln Memorial cleared out. But the ball was recovered by Wade, and she was able to score. The Lady Bearcats held the 1-0 lead at halftime.

Dos Santos tied the game five minutes into the second half off an assist from Heloisa Oliveira and gave Lincoln Memorial the lead for good with 28:32 left off an assist from Camilla Verissimo.

Dos Santos scored her third goal with 15 minutes left off an assist from Stefani Taylor, giving the Rail Splitters a 3-1 lead and some breathing room.

Lincoln Memorial out-shot Lander 27-5 while the Lady Bearcats had a 5-4 edge in corner kicks. Lander goalkeeper Rachael Hine had a good match with 10 saves while LMU's Stephanie Kwoka had two saves.
