Volleyball rallies past Lenoir-Rhyne to split day one of PBC/SAC Crossover

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Lander volleyball team bounced back from a loss to Mars Hill and an early deficit against Lenoir-Rhyne to knock off the Bears on day one of the PBC/SAC Crossover on Friday.

Lander (13-4) dropped a hotly contested match against the Lions (8-6) in which three of the four sets were decided by a 26-24 score. Kyra Ross, Madilyn Reed, and Nell Copeland each posted double-doubles in the loss. The Bearcats then fell behind 1-0 to Lenoir-Rhyne (10-6) before charging back to claim the next three sets and earn the victory. Ross recorded her second double-double of the day with 13 kills and 15 digs, while Reed followed suit with 39 assists and 10 digs. Deona Mims led the Bearcats with 15 kills and Hannah McManus tallied a season-high 39 digs. 

The Bearcats head to Jefferson City, Tenn., on Saturday to face Lincoln Memorial at 1:00 p.m. and Carson-Newman at 5:00 p.m.
