Bearcats prepare for Peach Belt Conference Tournament semifinals

GREENWOOD – The second-seeded Lander volleyball team will face its first Peach Belt Conference Tournament match on Saturday night as the Bearcats will take on either third-seeded Augusta or sixth-seeded Francis Marion in the semifinals at 6:30 p.m. in Finis Horne Arena.

• Lander (22-6) is participating in its 21st consecutive Peach Belt Conference Tournament. The Bearcats have never missed the PBC Tournament and are looking for their sixth win at the event since 2007.

• The Bearcats earned two PBC awards on Friday night as Kaitlyn Krafka was named the conference Freshman of the Year and Madilyn Reed was tabbed as the league's Setter of the Year. 

• Krafka was named first-team all-conference, while Reed, Hannah Hritz and Hannah McManus earned second-team all-league honors. 

• Lander won both matches this season against the Jaguars (21-7), while splitting with FMU (13-14). 

• The Bearcats are looking to earn their second trip to the PBC Championship match in program history. 

• On the other side of the bracket, fourth-seeded Flagler faces fifth-seeded Georgia College for the right to play top-seeded USC Aiken in the semifinals. 

• Lander leads the conference in kills, digs, assists, solo blocks and points.
