Bearcats set for busy weekend at USC Aiken Invitational

AIKEN, S.C. – The Lander volleyball team returns to Aiken for the second time this season as the Bearcats participate in the USC Aiken Invitational this weekend. Lander will play Carson-Newman and West Alabama on Friday before facing Barton and Queens on Saturday.

• Lander (7-1) brings a six-match winning streak into the weekend. The Bearcats swept Converse 3-0 at home on Wednesday night. 

Madilyn Reed posted a career-high 39 assists in the win over Converse. 

• The Bearcats began the season with a pair of matches in Aiken, defeating Johnson C. Smith 3-0 and falling 3-0 to Barry. 

• Carson-Newman (3-0) has dropped just one set on the season and has won seven consecutive sets. 

• West Alabama (3-2) has recorded sweeps in all three of its wins, while being swept in both of its losses.  

• Barton (1-9) enters the weekend on a five-match skid, with its lone win of the season coming over Georgia College. 

• Queens (5-1) opened the season with four consecutive wins and will be playing its third match in two days in two different states when it faces Lander.
