Lander races past North Greenville for non-conference win

GREENWOOD – The Lander women's tennis team swept doubles action and dominated on courts four, five, and six en route to a 6-1 win over North Greenville on Wednesday afternoon at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center. 

Lander took a 1-0 lead on a pair of 6-1 doubles wins from Manasi Ramadani and Lucia Ric at No. 3 and Nelli Lius and Lindsey Wiggins at No. 2. Eduarda Ferreira and Isabella Schulz posted a 7-5 win on court one to conclude doubles action. 

The bottom of half Lander's lineup took over in singles play, surrendering just three games to the Crusaders (4-13). Ramadani earned a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 6, while Ric and Wiggins eased to 6-1, 6-0 wins at No. 5 and No. 4 to clinch the victory. Ferreira notched a 6-0, 7-5 win at the No. 1 spot and Lius rallied to win 0-6, 6-2, 10-3 at No. 3. NGU earned a point at No. 2 to avoid a shutout. 

The Bearcats put their two-match winning streak on the line Saturday as Lander hosts Francis Marion at 12:30 p.m.
