Bearcats suffer 4-3 setback to Augusta

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Lander women's tennis team dropped a tight road match, 4-3, against Augusta on Friday afternoon.

Lander (5-10, 0-3) found themselves in an intense battle for the doubles point, but Augusta (9-5, 2-4 PBC) picked up wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots to take the first point of the match, while Eduarda Ferreira and Isabella Schulz won 6-2 at No. 1. 

Ferreira and Schulz each picked up victories at the top two spots, with Ferreira winning 6-1, 7-5 at No. 1, while Schulz topped her Jaguar opponent 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 slot. Manasi Ramadani also earned a 7-5, 6-0 victory at No. 6, but Augusta notched three singles wins to edge out the Bearcats. 

Lander returns home to host USC Aiken on Tuesday, March 26 at 2:30 p.m., for its first of five consecutive home matches.
