Bearcats fall to Flagler 2-0 in PBC Tournament quarterfinals to end season

GREENWOOD - The Lander women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of top-seeded and No. 3 Flagler on Tuesday night in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals at Saints Field.

Lander will end their season with a 6-9-2 record, while the Saints (17-0-1) will face Columbus State in the semifinals on Friday.

In the 5th minute, Annie Habeeb would net a header off an assist from Josefine Nilsen to give Flagler the early lead. The Saints would double their lead in the 75th minute as Annie Habeeb would score her second goal of the game.

The Bearcats would try to get back into the game but were unable to send the match into overtime.

The Saints outshot the Bearcats 16-4 and won six corners compared to the Bearcats one.

Lander is slated only to lose three players as they will return a majority of their roster next year. Underclassmen registered 24 of the Bearcats' 34 goals during the year.
