GREENWOOD – The Lander women's soccer team used goals from four different players to top Georgia Southwestern, 8-0, Saturday afternoon at Van Taylor Stadium.
The Bearcats finish the regular season 6-8-2 and 4-5-2 in the PBC while the Hurricanes finish the season 3-13-2 and 0-10-1 in the PBC.
Brianna Taylor opened the scoring in the first minute after taking the rebound off of the post and tapping the ball in the net. Just over 10 minutes later, Brianna Taylor found the net for the second time to give the Bearcats the two-goal lead.
Kaitlyn Anderson netted her first career goal at the 18:08 mark to give Lander a 3-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Kaitlyn Anderson began the second half barrage by taking a pass from Emily Jermstad and firing it in the net in the 57th minute. Two minutes later, Brianna Taylor connected on a shot to give her the hat trick.
At the 75:22 mark, Emily Jermstad finally found the back of the net to put Lander ahead 6-0. Jermstad recorded her second goal of the night in the 83rd minute. Macy Sinner would round out the scoring for the day as she converted a penalty kick to give the Bearcats the dominant 8-0 win.
The Bearcats outshot the Hurricanes 16-3, while they won two corners compared to the Hurricanes zero.
The Bearcats will wait to see who they will play in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament next week.
