Women’s soccer to face Georgia Southwestern on senior day

GREENWOOD – The Lander women's soccer team will host Georgia Southwestern Saturday afternoon on senior day. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Van Taylor Stadium.

• Saturday marks the 13th all-time meeting between the Bearcats and Hurricanes, as Lander owns a 12-1-0 advantage heading into the contest. The Bearcat's last loss to the Hurricanes came in 2006 when they dropped a 2-1 decision.

• Last time out, Lander dropped a tough 3-2 match in overtime on the road against No. 3 Flagler on Saturday. Freshman Haleigh Bollig scored the first goal for the Bearcats and the second one was an own goal in the final minutes of regulation.

• Lander currently holds a 4-2-1 record at home, with their only loss coming against Wingate on Sept. 14.

• The Bearcats have split their last two senior day games.

• Georgia Southwestern suffered a 4-0 decision at home against Columbus State on Wednesday.

• The Hurricanes currently have an away record of 1-5-1 and have allowed 13 goals on the road so far.

• Payton Johnson leads the Hurricane attack with four goals.
