Lander falls in PBC showdown at UNC Pembroke

PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Lander women's soccer team came up short in a 1-0 battle against UNC Pembroke in a Peach Belt Conference match on Wednesday night.

Lander (5-5-2, 3-2-2 PBC) surrendered a goal in the 10th minute and never could find the equalizer. The Bearcats attempted 10 shots on the night against 16 from UNCP (10-3, 4-2 PBC), while the Braves held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks. 

Sarah Owen saved the final five shots on goal she faced , while UNCP's Gina Ryan recorded four saves in a shutout. The Bearcats were down a player for the final 17:41 of the match.
 
The Bearcats head to Albany, Ga., on Saturday to face the Albany State Rams in a PBC match at 3:00 p.m.
