Women’s soccer set to host Clayton State Wednesday night

GREENWOOD – The Lander women's soccer team will host conference foe Clayton State Wednesday night, marking its second of a two-match home stretch. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Van Taylor Stadium.

• Wednesday will mark the 23rd all-time meeting between the Bearcats and Lakers, with a 10-10-3 record.

• The Bearcats are currently on a three-game win streak over the Lakers with their last loss coming in 2016.

• Last time out, Lander (4-3-1) defeated Columbus State 3-2 in overtime on Saturday thanks to a game-winner by Sophomore Kelcie Fisher.

• The victory marks the first time since 2012 that the Bearcats have defeated the Cougars.

• Clayton State (4-2-0) dropped a 2-1 decision at No. 6 Flagler on Saturday.

• Senior Emily Jermstad recently was named conference player of the week. She is currently tied for second in the conference in goals with seven and third in the conference in points with 16.

• Janne Brouer leads the Lakers with four goals, while Moa Loftman leads the team in assists with four.
