Lander women’s soccer hires former player as assistant coach

GREENWOOD – The Lander women's soccer program has hired former midfielder Noel McDaniel as an assistant coach, head coach Chris Ayer announced on Monday.

"I count it a great privilege to have the opportunity to return to and serve a community, school, and program that I have benefited so much from," said McDaniel. "I am excited about where the Bearcat women's soccer program is headed and am extremely grateful to be a part of it."

McDaniel graduated from Lander in 2016 after playing four years of soccer. She appeared in 59 matches throughout her career at Lander, helping guide the Bearcats to a 38-20-8 overall record from 2012-15.

In 2013, McDaniel was named second team All-Peach Belt Conference and made the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic team. As a junior in 2014, McDaniel was a third-team NSCAA All-Southeast Region and All-Peach Belt Conference selection.

The Bearcats are looking to return to the NCAA Tournament after earning the program's first-ever appearance in 2018.
