Women's soccer releases fall schedule

GREENWOOD – Lander women's soccer head coach Chris Ayer has finalized the 2019 fall schedule. The Bearcats' regular season will consist of 16 matches.

Three home contests open the campaign as the Bearcats host Converse on Sept. 5 in the season's first match. Coker visits Van Taylor Stadium on Sept. 11, followed by a date with Wingate on Sept. 14.

Lander then embarks on a four-match road swing, visiting Limestone, a participant in last year's NCAA Tournament, on Sept. 18 and Anderson on Sept. 25. Peach Belt Conference play begins with a Sept. 28 trip to Georgia College and plays its first PBC road match at Francis Marion on Oct. 2.

Columbus State, the reigning Southeast Region champion, and Clayton State come to Greenwood on Oct. 5 and Oct. 9. Lander hits the road again on Oct. 12 for a date with Young Harris before returning home seven days later to play host to North Georgia.

The Bearcats play a pair of conference road matches in a four-day span beginning with a trip to UNC Pembroke on Oct. 23 and ending with a match at Albany State on Oct. 26. The month ends with a home contest against USC Aiken on Oct. 30.

Lander's final road trip of the regular season comes on Nov. 2 as the Bearcats head to Flagler, another club that advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season. The Bearcats wrap up regular season play at home against Georgia Southwestern on Nov. 9.

Lander advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history last season while finishing second in the PBC regular season standings.
