Bob Dachille tabbed as first Lander women's lacrosse head coach

GREENWOOD – Bob Dachille, who led the Erskine and Presbyterian women's lacrosse programs over the past seven seasons, has been named the first head coach of the Lander women's lacrosse program according to an announcement from athletics director Brian Reese Monday.

"I am very pleased to welcome Bob Dachille to Lander," Reese said. "He has a unique opportunity to build a program from the ground up and I am confident that he is the right person to lead us into this new era of Bearcat women's lacrosse."

"I want to thank Dr. Consentino and Brian Reese for this incredible opportunity," said Dachille. "I am extremely excited to join the Bearcat family and begin to get to work on establishing a brand new program. This is an extremely exciting time to be a part of Lander University and I am looking forward to getting to work and establishing a positive culture from day one."

During his four seasons at Presbyterian, Dachille coached Maura Talvacchia, who finished her career ranked No. 2 on the NCAA Division I all-time list for turnovers caused. Talvacchia was a first-team all-conference selection in 2017 and led the nation in caused turnovers per game, while ranking third in ground balls per game along with goalie Kayla Koch. His 2016 squad led the nation in ground balls per game. Off the field, his Blue Hose teams excelled academically, earning Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Honor Squad accolades in all four years of his tenure.

Prior to his arrival at Presbyterian, Dachille served as the head coach at Erskine for three seasons. The Flying Fleet set the school record for single-season wins in all three years under Dachille's leadership, making the Conference Carolinas Tournament in 2014 for the first time in program history. Dachille coached 2014 Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year Ali Cole as well as 10 all-conference players during his three years in Due West. Dachille's team was named to the IWLCA Honor Squad in each of his three seasons.

Dachille has served as camp director for lacrosse camps throughout South Carolina including the Nike Lacrosse Camp and Carolina Revolution.

Prior to coaching at Erskine, Dachille was an assistant lacrosse coach at Medway High School in Medway, Ma., where he helped guide the team to the second ever appearance in the state tournament. Dachille also spent one season as an intern with the Boston Blazers of the National Lacrosse League.

Dachille is a 2007 graduate of Wake Forest University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, while captaining the Demon Deacons' club lacrosse team for three seasons. He obtained his Masters in Sports Leadership from Northeastern University in 2010.
