GREENWOOD – The Lander women's basketball team aims for its sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance with the release of its 2019-20 schedule. The slate consists of 15 matchups at home, seven games against NCAA tournament teams from last season, and a preseason contest against an in-state Division I program that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season.
Lander will visit Clemson, a Division I opponent from the Atlantic Coast Conference, for a preseason exhibition before hosting Lenoir-Rhyne and Carson Newman, an NCAA tournament team from last season, for the PBC/SAC Challenge to begin the season. In total, the Bearcats will compete against five NCAA tournament teams from last season: Carson-Newman (Nov. 9), Anderson (Nov. 19), Barton (Nov. 26), Clayton State (Dec. 14, Jan. 20), and North Georgia (Jan. 18, Feb. 15).
The Bearcats will travel to PBC foe Clayton State for a designated non-conference game before Peach Belt Conference play begins Dec. 19 at Young Harris. Lander then heads to Columbus State (Dec. 21) and Georgia Southwestern (Jan. 4). The Bearcats will return home to for their first PBC game in Horne Arena on Jan. 8 against Augusta.
Homecoming Week features contests against Flagler (Feb. 19) and Francis Marion (Feb. 22). Lander will also host Senior Day festivities prior to tip-off against Francis Marion.
The PBC Tournament begins with quarterfinal action on Mar. 4, hosted by the higher seeds. The highest remaining seed will host the semifinals and championship on Mar. 7-8.
