Bearcats add Torrion Starks to signing class

GREENWOOD – Lander women's basketball head coach Kevin Pederson announced the addition of Torrion Starks to Lander's incoming recruiting class this week.

Starks, a 5-8 guard, originally signed with Western Kentucky out of Hart County High School in Georgia. She netted over 1,500 points through the first three seasons of prep career and was a GACA first-team all-state honoree as well as a three-time first-team all-region selection.

Starks averaged 27 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and six steals per game as a senior and was tabbed as the 3A Player of the Year, along with being named the classification's best scorer and passer. In her senior season, Starks led the Bulldogs to an appearance in the 3A state championship game.

The Hartwell, Ga., native brings the total number of incoming Bearcats for the 2019-20 campaign to seven. Starks joins Makaila Cange (Douglasville, Ga./New Manchester), Aniaya Jester (Griffin, Ga./Spalding), Jakiyah Parker (Augusta, Ga./Josey), Zamiya Passmore (Locust Grove, Ga./Locust Grove), Cierra Revelle (Apex, N.C./Apex Friendship), and Alea Spears (Lawrenceville, Ga./Brookwood).
