Lander picked third in Peach Belt Conference preseason poll

GREENWOOD – The Lander women's basketball team was picked third in the annual Peach Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, the league office announced Wednesday.

The Bearcats have been selected to finish in the top-three of the league each of the past three seasons. Lander earned 93 points and are slotted behind North Georgia, who received all 11 first-place votes and 121 points, and Columbus State who received 103 points.

Lander enters 2018-19 searching for its fifth consecutive postseason appearance and fourth straight appearance in the PBC Tournament championship. The Bearcats have won 25 games each of the last two seasons and return preseason All-PBC selection Mylea McKenith and Jessica Harris, who led the conference in assists last season.

The Bearcats open the 2018-19 campaign with games against Lenoir-Rhyne and Carson-Newman in Jefferson City, Tenn., on Nov. 9-10 before beginning the home portion of the season by welcoming North Greenville for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff on Nov. 14.
