Bearcats set to face UNC Pembroke on Senior Day

GREENWOOD – The Lander softball team (29-17, 9-9 PBC) looks to end the regular season on a winning note on Friday when the Bearcats host UNC Pembroke (24-22, 2-14 PBC) in a Senior Day doubleheader at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m., at Doug Spears Field.

• Friday will mark the final home games for seniors McKenzi Ferguson, Molly McNulty, Hannah Newton, Halie Sorrow, Dariean Ward and Casey Wooten.

• Lander has won eight consecutive games entering Friday.

• A sweep of the Braves will give Lander its first 10-game winning streak since 2003. 

McKenzi Ferguson was named the PBC Pitcher of the Week last week, while Ashley Vinson was named the PBC Freshman of the Week. It marked the first time in program history the Bearcats earned two PBC honors in a single week. 

• The Bearcats have struck out 148 times this season, the second-lowest amount in the conference. 

• Lander has secured a winning record at home for the third consecutive season.

• The Bearcats are averaging 182 fans per game at home this season, the highest mark in program history.
