No. 5 Lander adds 16 newcomers for 2019 campaign

GREENWOOD – Lander men's soccer head coach Lee Squires announced his 2019 newcomers on Monday, two days ahead of Lander's first fall practice.

The new additions to Lander are Rasmus AnderssonHarry Bircumshaw, Max Bolton, Enoch Carrell, Alistair Danjon, Carson DingerJack Frost, Simon GudmundssonMitch GutteridgeOwen HamiltonSamuel MaardhTom Marriott, Max McNultyJonah MillerBradley Nickles, and Jed Smith

Rasmus Andersson - Fr. - Defender/Midfielder - Stenungsund, Sweden

Squires on Andersson: "Rasmus will bring great balance down the left side of the pitch for us. He will get up and down the pitch all game long, provide good delivery from wide areas, and bring an outgoing personality to the group."

Harry Bircumshaw - Fr. - Midfielder - Mansfield, England

Squires on Bircumshaw: "Harry is a top quality center midfield who can compete and play on both sides of the ball. He has great experience in professional youth team environments in England that will help his transition to the college game here."

Max Bolton - Fr. - Forward - Brentwood, England

Squires on Bolton: "Max is the younger brother of recent graduate and key player Tyler Bolton.  He's a powerful number nine with a keen eye for goal and a good personality  He'll be ready for the physical battle that the PBC and our region provides."

Enoch Carrell - Fr. - Midfielder - Durham, N.C.

Squires on Carrell: "Enoch is a smooth central midfielder who is technically sound. He reads the game well and is a well-rounded player. He'll add good quality to our midfield."

Alistair Danjon - Fr. - Defender - Reims, France

Squires on Danjon: "Alistair is a terrific defender, very efficient in the way he plays, tidy on the ball, and will help fill the void left by some experienced defenders graduating from last year's squad. He has the right kind of pedigree to succeed here, having played at the very highest level in France."

Carson Dinger - Fr. - Midfielder - Spartanburg, S.C.

Squires on Dinger: "Carson is a player we've had on our radar for a number of years. We have seen him develop into a well-rounded player in the last 2-3 years. He has two good feet, is productive in the final third, and offers the versatility to play centrally or wide in midfield."

Jack Frost - So. - Defender - Basildon, England

Squires to Frost: "Jack is a composed defender that is comfortable in possession and will help our play out of the back. A solid defender, Jack adds maturity and experience coming in as a transfer from University in England."

Simon Gudmundsson - Fr. - Goalkeeper - Stockholm, Sweden

Squires on Gudmunsson: "Simon is the lone goalkeeper in this class, and brings incredible athleticism and ability. He will compete with our returning goalkeepers but also learn a lot from them and is a great addition to the squad."

Mitch Gutteridge - Sr. - Defender - Reading, England

Squires on Gutteridge: "Mitch adds fantastic experience which we will need this year, and knows what it takes to compete in this region. A big, strong, physical defender that can also play with the ball."

Owen Hamilton - Fr. - Defender - Charleston, S.C.

Squires on Hamilton: "Owen is another talented in-state player and, as a teammate of Jonah Miller, won three state titles with Wando high school. He will bring good energy and bite to the backline."

Samuel Maardh - Fr. - Midfielder - Stockholm, Sweden

Squires on Maardh: "Samuel is one of 3 Swedish player in our recruiting class.  He brings great energy to the midfield, reads the game very well, is strong in the tackle, and can then pass the ball very well once possession is one.  Has leadership qualities having captained his team in Sweden."

Tom Marriott - Jr. - Midfielder - Nottingham, England

Squires on Marriott: "Tom is a difference maker that with add creativity, excitement and quality in the final third, and a hunger and desire to regain possession. He experienced success at a good Southern New Hampshire program, and will bring good experience and professionalism to our team."

Max McNulty - Fr. - Forward/Midfielder - Birmingham, England

Squires on McNulty: "Max is a talented player that can beat a defender a number a ways. He is good with the ball, can score and create, moves well, and can use his height to be effective in the air too. It'll be interesting to see where he is most effective at this level."

Jonah Miller - Fr. - Forward - Charleston, S.C.

Squires on Miller: "Jonah is a strong, powerful attacking player coming from state champions Wando high school. He's had a great soccer education and experienced great success there. He has a powerful shot with both feet, and a great work ethic."

Bradley Nickles - Fr. - Forward - Due West, S.C.

Squires on Nickles: "Brad is the best local product in the area and broke all kinds of scoring records in high school. He has raw athleticism and comes alive in the box, and we are looking forward to seeing how that translates at the college level."

Jed Smith - Fr. - Midfielder - Essex, England

Squires on Smith: "Jed had great experience of first team soccer at Concord Rangers last year and is a versatile player that will be a great asset to our program. He is also good friends with Jack Frost and that familiarity will help both guys settle and hit the ground running."
