Brevard's career-high 26 points helps Lander hold off Barton 93-84

GREENWOOD – The Lander men's basketball team got a career-high 26 points from Tyler Brevard and held off Barton College 93-84 in a non-conference game Tuesday night at Horne Arena.

The Bearcats (5-2) beat Barton (3-4) in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

"Tyler Brevard had a great game, especially when our offense got stagnant there," said head coach Drew Richards. "Ultimately, Tyler made the right plays against that zone. Sometimes when your execution doesn't work, you've got to have guys that make plays and we had guys that made enough plays for us to win tonight."

Brevard made eight of 14 shots from the floor, added seven rebounds and paced Lander with five assists and four steals. It was the senior's collegiate career high including previous stops at Spartanburg Methodist and Erskine.

Deon Berrien added 17 points for the Bearcats on seven of nine shooting while contributing eight rebounds.
