Bearcats fall to Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. - The Lander men's basketball team lost a close one to Emmanuel, 70-68, Wednesday night at Shaw Athletic Center.

Lander (3-2) was led by junior Deon Berrien, who tallied 19 points and five rebounds to lead the team. LaRaymond Spivery collected 17 points and 10 rebounds for the game

It was back and forth in the first five minutes of the game as Emmanuel took a 9-6 lead. The Bearcats game plan was to pound the ball inside, but missed shots would keep the score close throughout the first half. The Lions would connect on a couple of three-pointers at the end of the half to take a 36-33 lead going into halftime.

Coming out of the break, the score stayed close as Emmanuel had a slim 43-42 after five minutes of play in the second half. In the middle of the half, the Lions were able to break the trend of trading baskets and take a 59-55 lead. It was a close game down to the last second as the Bearcats could not make a comeback and win the game.

Next up, the Bearcats are scheduled to face Coker at home on Saturday, Nov. 23. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
