GREENWOOD – The Peach Belt Conference office announced its weekly baseball awards Tuesday afternoon with Lander junior Roury Glanton being selected as the Player of the Week for his performance in four games at the Steinbrenner Field Spring Classic. He is the first Bearcat player chosen as the Player of the Week since Colby Lusignan picked up the hardware after the opening week of the 2016 season.
Glanton, a native of Carrolton, Ga., made the most of his first four games in a Bearcat uniform as he hit .400 with a 1.000 slugging percentage against four nationally-ranked teams. The junior had three home runs and seven RBI for the weekend, including a homer in the season-opening win against No. 2 Tampa. He hit two home runs against No. 19 Mount Olive with five RBI. He had another RBI in a second game against Mount Olive. Glanton is tied for the PBC lead with three homers. He is also tied for second in the league in slugging percentage, tied for third in RBIs and is second in total bases.
Lander plays its first home games of the season this weekend against Millersville. Games are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 12:00 p.m. on Sunday at Dolny Stadium.
