Lander prepares for pool play at the PBC Tournament

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The eighth-seeded Lander baseball team (16-32, 9-21 PBC) faces three opponents in pool play this weekend at the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. The Bearcats face top-seeded Georgia College (39-10, 26-4 PBC) on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Drysdale Field at Flagler. On Saturday, Lander plays fifth-seeded North Georgia (30-20, 17-13 PBC) at 10:00 a.m. and fourth-seeded UNC Pembroke (36-12, 17-12 PBC) at 1:30 p.m. Both Saturday games will be played at St. John's River State College.

• Lander is participating in its eighth Peach Belt Conference tournament. The Bearcats own an 11-12 all-time record in tournament play. Lander is searching for its second tournament championship in program history (2014). 

• The Bearcats are meeting Georgia College in the PBC tournament for the third time. Lander is 2-0 against the Bobcats. 

• Lander is 0-1 in the PBC tournament against North Georgia. The Nighthawks defeated the Bearcats 8-1 in 2011. 

• The Bearcats are 1-1 all-time in the PBC tournament against UNC Pembroke. 

• Georgia College and UNC Pembroke swept Lander, while the Bearcats took two of three from North Georgia. 

• Lander has appeared in three PBC Tournament championship games (2012, 2014, 2016).  

• The Bearcats are appearing in the tournament for the seventh time in the past eight seasons.
