HICKORY, N.C.----Justin Gupton shot a 75 Monday to lead the Lander University golf team in the rain-shortened first round of the two-day Billy Patton Invitational hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne College.

The tournament, which only played one round on Monday instead of two, will finish with 18 holes on Tuesday.

Lander is 11th in the 12-team field after the first 18 holes with 314. The University of South Carolina leads with 286.

Other Lander scorers are: Billy Belair and David Connor 79, and Cooper Tinsley 80. Brian Cote' shot an 82.
