Lander student-athletes record 3.22 GPA in 2018-19

GREENWOOD – Lander's student-athletes posted a combined 3.22 grade point average for the 2018-19 academic year, according to data provided by the university. 

12 of Lander's athletic programs (men and women's soccer, men's and women's tennis, volleyball, softball, women's cross country, baseball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's basketball) eclipsed 3.0 as a team, with women's soccer posting a department-high 3.49 GPA for the year.

As a whole, teams increased their average GPA from 3.21 in the fall to 3.22 in the spring. 

"Our athletic department believes academics is a vital part of team success," said Lander athletics director Brian Reese, "and these numbers reflect that belief. We are incredibly pleased with the tremendous effort our student-athletes and have put forth in the classroom."

Lander placed 62 student-athletes on the Dean's List and 36 on the President's List. 15 percent of student-athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA.
