GREENWOOD – Lander volleyball head coach Ashley White announced seven newcomers to the Bearcat program on Thursday who will attempt to help Lander return to the NCAA Tournament for a third consecutive season.

"We have five freshmen and two junior college players," said White, who begins her sixth season with the Bearcats this fall. "We are really looking forward to this group of seven helping us continue to take Lander volleyball in the right direction. These seven are going to be a great addition to our Bearcat family."

Hannah Hritz - 5'8" - RS - Sarasota, Fla.

White on Hritz: "Hannah is going to be a strong addition to our offensive line. She has great court awareness and is really able to find the holes on the other side of the net. We are looking forward to having her volleyball IQ out on the court this year."

Elizabeth "Nell" Copeland - 5'9" - S - Peachtree City, Ga.

White on Copeland: "Nell is a strong offensive setter that is able to run a very fast offense. She has a very calming presence out on the court that plays a key role to her success. She is going to be a great addition to our team this fall."

Megan Farris - 5'8" - OH/DS - Myrtle Beach, S.C.

White on Farris: "Megan is a very scrappy player. She has a strong work ethic that takes her game to a high level. Megan can also see the court well and has a variety of offensive shots that will help our team out this fall."

Ashleigh Cooke - 6'2" - OH/MB - Columbia, S.C.

White on Cooke: "Ashleigh is helping to bring some height and a high contact point to our team this year. One of her strengths that we are very excited about is blocking. She is also a versitile player that will be able to swing outside and middle for us."

Emma Effird - 5'6" - L - Concord, N.C.

White on Effird: "Emma is going to bring a lot of strength to our defensive game. She sees the court and reads hitters extremely well. Emma also has a strong voice out on the court that will help direct traffic for our serve receive"

Mariah Wallace - 5'8" - OH - Catawba Valley Community College

White on Effird: "We are excited to have Mariah join our program this season. She is coming to us with a lot of experience in the six-rotation outside hitter position. Mariah is going to help strengthen that role and provide us with more options in the outside position."

Imari Ashley - 5'10" - MB - Indian River State College

White on Effird: "Imari had a good two years at Indian River. She really dominated her sophomore year in the middle position and we are looking forward to having her as a strong offensive weapon this year."
