Lander defeats Mount Olive 4-0, advances to City of Florence Invitational semis

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Lander women's tennis team swept Mount Olive in the quarterfinals of the City of Florence Invitational on Friday afternoon. 

With the victory, the Bearcats (1-2) advance to the semifinals against Francis Marion at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. A win over the Patriots will put Lander in the tournament championship at 4:00 p.m.

Lander took a 1-0 lead by earning the doubles point as Lindsey Wiggins and Lucia Ric ran away with a 6-0 win at No. 3. After Mount Olive earned a win at No. 1, Nelli Lius and Manasi Ramadani gave the Bearcats the point with a 6-2 win at No. 2. 

Eduarda Ferreira got off the singles courts first to extend Lander's lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 spot. Lius closed out her match at No. 3 by a score of 6-3, 6-3 and Ric punched the Bearcats' ticket to the semifinals with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 6.
