Lander women's tennis falls to Montevallo, 5-4

GREENWOOD  The Montevallo women's tennis rallied from a 2-1 deficit in doubles to win four singles matches and claim a 5-4 Peach Belt Conference victory over Lander Saturday afternoon at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center.

Montevallo improves to 15-4 overall and 3-4 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 8-6, (4-5).

In singles, No. 1 Alina Munteanu (UM) def. Yuriko Ono (LU) 6-3, 6-0; No. 2 Emily Beatty (UM) def. Ivanka Mocic (LU) 7-6, 6-2; No. 3 Merel Van Zutphen (UM) def. Caroline Yodice (LU) 6-3, 7-6; No. 4 Nelli Lius (LU) def. Julia Berg (UM) 6-4, 6-0; No. 5 Julia Suzuki (LU) def. Amanda Gautreaux (UM) 6-4, 7-5; and No. 6 Lauren Pero (UM) def. Isabella Schulz (LU) 1-6, 7-6, 6-2.

In doubles, No. 1 Munteanu/Van Zutphen (UM) def. Yodice/Schulz (LU) 8-2; No. 2 Ono/Lius (LU) def. Alice Copland/Rayne Sinclair (UM) 8-2; and No. 3 Mocic/Suzuki (L) def. Berg/Gautreaux
