Bearcats face Belmont Abbey, Young Harris this weekend

GREENWOOD – The Lander women's tennis team resumes action this weekend as the Bearcats face non-conference opponent Belmont Abbey at 4:00 p.m. Friday and Peach Belt Conference foe Young Harris at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center.

STORYLINES

• Lander (6-3) earned a thrilling 5-4 victory over PBC rival USC Aiken on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Julia Suzuki earned the winning point for Lander in a match that lasted nearly six hours. 

• Senior Ivanka Mocic is 7-2 this season in singles play.

• Senior Yuriko Ono and freshman Nelli Lius are 8-1 overall at the No. 2 doubles spot, including a perfect 3-0 mark in Peach Belt Conference play.

• Friday will mark the first ever match between Lander and Belmont Abbey. 

• Lander trails the overall series with Young Harris, 4-3. 

• The Bearcats are searching for their first win over the Mountain Lions since 2014. 

• Lander has four wins this season at the Joe Cabri Tennis Center, matching its home win total from a season ago.
