Bearcats cruise to 4-0 win over Georgia Southwestern

Americus, Ga. - The Lander women's soccer team (8-7, 4-6 PBC) snapped its three-game losing streak on Saturday with a 4-0 win over Georgia Southwestern (0-15, 0-10 PBC). The Bearcats found goals from four different sources as the team cruised to its eighth win of the season.

Midfielder Chloe Le Franc started off the scoring for the Bearcats in the 17th minute. The freshman notched her second goal of the season off the assist from senior Kayla Walker.

Lander struck again in the 36th minute after the Bearcats were fouled inside the box and given a penalty kick. Freshman defender Brennen McCarthy calmly stepped up to the penalty mark and netted her first goal of the season.

The Bearcats found another goal in the 79th minute behind the efforts of Logan Lewis. The goal was Lewis' second of the season as the senior took it herself for the unassisted score.

Emily Jermstad rounded out the group of Lander goalscorers as the senior registered her first goal of the season.

With the win, the Bearcats clinched the 7th-seed in this year's PBC Championship. Lander will travel to 2nd-seeded Columbus State on Tuesday for the first round matchup.
