Bearcats face conference challenge at Young Harris on Saturday

Young Harris, Ga. – After defeating Mars Hill on Tuesday to notch the team's second straight victory, the Lander women's soccer team (7-4, 3-3 PBC) will face another test on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. against Young Harris (6-3-1, 4-1-1 PBC).

• Young Harris and Lander are ranked 5th and 6th respectively in the Peach Belt Conference standings ahead of Saturday's match.

• The top eight teams will qualify for the 2017 PBC Tournament. The Bearcats are three points back of North Georgia in the race for home-field advantage in the first round. Lander is also six points clear of ninth place teams Francis Marion and USC Aiken.

• The two teams met one time during the 2016 season with the 2-1 win going in favor of the Bearcats.

• Young Harris is coming off a 6-1 loss to Columbus State in the team's last outing. Before that game, the Mountain Lions were winners of four consecutive matches.

• In perhaps the team's most impressive result of the season, Young Harris played No. 5 Flagler to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 16th. Flagler has registered only two draws this season to go along with no losses.

• Saturday's contest will feature two of the better goalkeepers in the PBC this season. Young Harris keeper Nicole Medeiros has recorded an impressive 68 saves this year, while Lander's Sarah Owen ranks fifth in conference with a 1.41 goals against average.
