Women's soccer faces road test at Mars Hill on Tuesday

Mars Hill, N.C. – After ending a two-game losing skid on Saturday, the Lander women's soccer team will step out of conference play for a road matchup with Mars Hill at 5 p.m on Tuesday.

• Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Owen notched her fourth clean sheet of the season in a 3-0 sweep of USC Aiken on Saturday. Owen ranks sixth in the PBC with 47 saves on the season.

• The Bearcat defense has allowed only 1.56 goals per game this year, an improvement of nearly one goal per contest since the team's 2016 mark of 2.44.

• Senior forward Hannah Martin registered her sixth goal of the season against USC Aiken. Martin, who leads the team in scoring, recorded just one career goal before the start of this season.

• Senior Sara Flores has recorded goals in the team's last two outings. The Bearcat forward is second on the team in scoring with three goals.

• Mars Hill enters Tuesday's game on a two-game losing streak. The Lions have struggled on offense this season with just five goals.

• Tuesday's match marks the beginning of a three-game road trip for the Bearcats. Lander has one remaining home game in the regular season.
